Mani Rimdu Festival happens once in a year in Tengboche Monastery. It consists of nine days of ceremonies and meditation (Drupchen). This is concluded by a special blessing ceremony given by Tengboche Rinpoche to the public and the world renowned Mask Dances performed by the monks at Tengboche Monastery.

The following are the approximate dates of Mani Rimdu events this year based on the Tibetan lunar calendar.

09 Nov : Preparations including making the sand Mandala and Tormas (symbolic offerings made of coloured butter and barley flour)

10 Nov : Drupchen ceremonies start and continue uninterrupted for 8 days.

11 Nov : Monks practice dancing without masks

12 Nov : Giving the blessing to the general public (Wang)

13 Nov : Famous Mask Dances preformed by the monks in a special day long ceremony. Afterwards the Sherpa community sing and dance the whole night long.

14 Nov : Concluding Fire Puja.

Day to Day Itinerary

Day 01 or Oct 28: Your arrival at the Tribhuwan International Airport(TIA) and you will be meet our airport representative then transfer to hotel. Overnight at Hotel.

Day 02 or Oct 29: Sightseeing in Kathmandu Valley. Overnight at Hotel.

Day 03 or Oct 30: Fly Kathmandu to Lukla and start walking to Phakding 2610m, 3 hours. Overnight at Guest House.

Day 04 or Oct 31:Walk from Phakding to Namche Bazaar 3440m, 5 hours. Overnight at Guest House.

Day 05 or Nov 01:Acclimatization in Namche (3440), Today you will hike to Syanbgboche ( Everest View Hotel), observe Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Thamserku, Amadablam and other soaring mountains closely with hot tea, coffee or lemon tea. After few hours breaks at Everest View Hotel retrace back to Namche Bazaar. Rest of time exploration of Namche ( the main market of Khumbu Region).Overnight at Guest House.

Day 06 or Nov 02: Walk from Namche Bazaar to Tengboche (3860m.), 5 hours. Overnight at Guest House.

Day 07 or Nov 03:Walk from Tengboche to Dingboche, (4350m), 6 hours. Overnight at Guest House.

Day 08 or Nov 04:Hiking from Dingboche to Chhukung Valley and Chhukung Ri and back to Dingboche, 7 hours. Overnight at Guest House.

Day 09 or Nov 05:Walk from Dingboche to Lobuche (4925m), 6 hours. Overnight at Guest House.

Day 10 or Nov 06: Walk from L obuche toGorakshep (5170m) and hike toKalapatthar (5545m) and back to Gorakshep, 6 hrs. Overnight at Guest House.

Day 11 or Nov 07: Walk from Gorakshep to Everest base camp (5210m) and back to Gorakshep, 7 hrs.Overnight at Guest House.

Day 12 or Nov 08: Walk from Gorakshep to Pheriche (4280m), 6 hrs. Overnight at Guest House.

Day 13 or Nov 09: Walk from Pheriche to Tengboche (3860m), 5 hrs. Overnight at Guest House.

Day 14 or Nov 10: Monks practice dancing without masks

Day 15 or Nov 11: Giving the blessing to the general public

Day 18 or Nov 14:Walk from Tengboche to Namchee Bazaar (3440m), 5 hrs. Overnight at Guest House.

Day 19 or Nov 15:Walk from Namche Bazaar to Lukla (2840m), 6hrs. Overnight at Guest House.

Day 20 or Nov 16:Fly from Lukla to Kathmandu, 30 minutes and transfer to Hotel.

Day 21 or Nov 17:Transfer from Hotel to Airport and Fly to home.

  • Nepal Tourist Visa fee US$ 25 or equivalent foreign currency with multiple entry for 15 days, US$ 40 or equivalent foreign currency with multiple entry for 30 days. You may easily issue the visa upon your arrival at Tribhuwan International Airport - Kathmandu.
  • Items of a personal nature such as alcoholic drinks,hot shower, hot water, dessert, cold drinks, laundry, Tips.
